On 7 February, the Sustainable Fashion Show organised by the CPR Salesiano San Juan Bosco in Coruña took place. This initiative aimed to make visible the problem of the enormous presence of plastics.
The idea arose from the subject Technology (3rd Secondary School), taught by Professor Estela Veiga and was finally one of the commitments to join the Don Bosco Green Alliance.
The students of 3rd secondary school, 1st grade of collage and children participated. They paraded and designed the costumes, together with Paula Vicente, a former student of the school. Ten collections, with names of green areas, science museums or squares of Coruña, where recommendations were given to take care of them and respect them. The aim was to highlight these spaces and make the students’ environmental commitment to their city visible.
Several companies that are references in terms of environmental care collaborated: ECOEMBES, ITFAB, Flaco Studio and Salpax.
The initiative was a success! More than half a thousand people enjoyed the activity. The Mayor of Coruña and the Councillor for the Environment congratulated the School for this activity. It had great coverage in the media. All the local newspapers published it and it was on the cover of “La Opinión de A Coruña”. Several local radio stations interviewed the students to echo the parade.
